Greater fairness and justice:
what's the path?

Whether left or right, the reality's harsh: society is gripped by obscene money and power. Rigged rules. Wink-wink legalized bribery.
Drain the swamp? With Congress a millionaires' club? Billionaires running the White House, no matter which party leads?
Ordinary folks now get it: no one is going to save them.
Want a hero? Look in the mirror, then groan. No one wants this job. Like you, we yearn to be doing other things.
But no one, no one, is going to save us. It's strictly a do-it-yourself mission.
Tools? Our bodies and voices. That, and each other: collective action. It's all we have.

So that is the path: say something, do something. Start here or anywhere.
Your kids and grandkids will thank you.

Power concedes nothing without a
demand. It never has and it never will.

Frederick Douglass

It's not a destination
but a journey.

Perfection? Forget it. People are a mixed bag and always will be. Life is filled with contradictions,
yet  truths endure. Society's rules and incentives
can prosper the many or be rigged for the few.
That's why policy matters. Our choices matter.
"We all do better when we all do better."
—Paul Wellstone

It's a two-way street. Let's inform and inspire each other.

Left? Right? Forget labels. Find points of agreement,  however narrow they may seem.
We can do this. People of good will can travel the path together.
Share stories, listen, raise hell, march, grieve, get things done, celebrate.

Fairness and justice by the numbers

The US locks up 2,300,000 human beings, many of them pot smokers and other nonviolent drug users too poor to hire a lawyer — disproportionately African-American and Hispanic people. That's 728 people per 100,000 population, the world's highest incarceration rate.
Real unemployment (the "U-6" rate) is 9.2% with vast racial disparities. A livable wage for a single mom with one child stands at $21.79/hr (US median), says an MIT research team. Meanwhile, 43 million families owe $1.3 trillion of student debt. That's for starters.
